A Wolf Pack is a family ... a mother, a father and their pups, along with other close family members, consisting usually of 7 to 8 wolves.

They act like any other family, even yours.  They play, eat together, respect each others space, and wag their tails and nuzzle each other affectionately.

Wolf packs are arranged in a type of hierachy, each member having a place in the pack.  The leader is usually the biggest wolf and the strongest, the next in line are the ones that are not quite so big and strong, but definately able to protect the lesser wolves, the ones that are not so powerful, or young.   Like our pet dogs, when a stronger one engages in a fight with another dog, the dog who is weaker usually lies down on the ground on it's back showing it knows it's place...well wolves act the same way.

Wolves, like our pet dogs, show their anger in the way they hold their ears, bare their teeth, or in the way it holds it's tail.

Wolves are very protective of their young, and each family member takes turns in raising and caring for them.

So why are they so feared?
